Even though it’s still boiling hot here in LA, I am seeing fall looks popping up everywhere! I wanted to share some common looks that are making a come back and looks that I absolutely love! This season a strong bold brow is back. This creates drama and will also balance out strong lips. Always brush your brows upward and use a pencil or powder that is one or two shades lighter than your natural hair color. I loved the movie Abduction and I think Lily Collins (left) has the most amazing thick brows. Carey Mulligan (right) also has gorgeous eyebrows.
Another look is to take the summer eye shadow colors and reinvent them. Now you can take your colors such as blues and greens and sweep them across your entire eye for a beautiful smokey look. Remember if you want to create a traditional smokey eye (below left), use the darker shade on your lid, a light shade as your highlight and then your pop of color in the crease and blend, blend, blend!! If you want to create more dimension and a lighter smokey eye I would use four eyeshadow colors; a medium color for the lid, your highlight color for under the brow and inner corners of the eye, a darker color for your crease/outer corner and a lighter color just above your crease (as seen on Ashley Greene).
What’s huge this fall is also graphic eyeliner and this can be used as well to create a beautiful dramatic look. Again wear a nude shade on the lip to balance out the look. Sexy cat eyes is also very smoldering during winter. Taking your gel liner or liquid liner start at the inner corners and draw a liner all the way along your upper lash line then flick it up and out at the end. For a dramatic look, apply individual lashes on the outer edges of the eyes (as seen on Angelina Jolie).
Finally red lips are a must in the winter! Whether you want to choose a blue red or an orange red, there are so many different shades to suit any complexion. Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez are often seen with a light lip, however they look beautiful with that strong pop of color! Something to note: keep the focus on just one aspect – eyes or lips. Your look should be natural and beautiful.
Tip: No shimmering bronzers should be used in the winter months.
Even if it’s not quite fall yet, I am getting excited to create new looks to pair with my boots and a cool scarf 😉
Have a gorgeous Wednesday,
