Content marketing doesn’t only ensure greater loyalty and give you a big audience to sell to though: it also gives you more impact and authority.
Think about your favorite celebrity. Someone that you really look up to, whose work you admire, and who you
think has got their life up together. Imagine if they recommended a certain item of clothing or a certain health supplement. Would you be more likely to buy it?
The answer for the general population is a resounding yes. This is why the hair oil Gisou created by social media influencer Negin Mirsalehi is now worth about $10 million. She shares her life with her boyfriend and her dog Mosey on social media and people relate to her story and love her life.
Think about Sazan Hendrix. She started as a YouTube Beauty Guru. She was able to create products and services just because she established a large audience. She is multi-passionate and has brought her audience along with her and shares her journey from beauty to wife and now a mother of 2. She created The Bless Box along with a team and her followers bought it because they loved and trusted her.
The objective of content marketing is essential to build that kind of trust and authority directly. Instead of working with an authority, you are going to become that authority.
Take a look at someone like Jasmine Star, Jenna Kutcher or even Amber Fullerup. These are people who offer value through their blogs and their videos so that when they have something to sell, they have millions of people waiting to buy from them. Everything they release is a hit, which is because of the groundwork they put in at the start. Amber Fullerup along with her husband have built Dae hair products and their business is flying purely because they offer value for their customers and created a relationship of trust. The same goes for YouTube personality Marie Forleo for MarieTV, or social media motivator and owner of Vaynermedia, Gary Vaynerchuck. These are platforms with fans not just readers.
I think the powerful scary thing is that we now have the tools (facebook, youtube, Instagram) to build a powerful brand that can change the future. Because of this phone we have been given opportunities to create any business we want no matter our age, location or circumstance. We can choose to be multi-dimensional, we can be the founder of a successful tech company and a rock concert photographer at the same time, we can be the investment banker and celebrity makeup artist. We learned that we have to be good at one thing and focus on that one skill, but this is not correct, we can be great at many things and this is what makes us truly successful and create a brand that’s unique and will create impact.
